Take part in a two-session introductory workshop to write, and to discover the language and literary craft of Fatou Diome. Under each participant's pen, the storm is braved with great freedom of tone; inspiration is born from dialogue and observation, carried by a literature that is demystified and accessible. Writing becomes a cradle for experimentation, drawing on personal narrative, memory, or a sense of belonging, to bring forth, with a light touch, the pleasure of poetic creation.

The novelistic captain Fatou Diome guides you through the swell: the power of cooperation and letting go sends you off on an adventure, against the grain of established conventions. A collective quest that transforms storms and connects differences, to bring forth shared joy.

Contemporary literature is alive and meant to be shared; our wish is to offer access to it to as many people as possible. This workshop requires no prerequisites, and it is not essential to have read the author's texts beforehand.

Fatou Diome, born in Senegal, is a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium. She rose to prominence with Le Ventre de l'Atlantique (Anne Carrière, 2003), a major success translated into some twenty languages, which brought her international recognition. Several novels followed, published by Éditions Flammarion, including Kétala (2006) and Celles qui attendent (2010), then by Éditions Albin Michel: Les Veilleurs de Sangomar (2019), De quoi aimer vivre, a short story collection (2021), a political essay, Marianne face aux faussaires (2022), and a literary essay, Le Verbe libre ou le Silence (2023).
